A Note of Thanksgiving…
Dear Parents and Students,
This year we celebrate the graduation of our first senior class,
the college graduation class of 2011. At
our Aspire schools we think in terms of college graduation because we are committed
to providing a rigorous curriculum that makes it possible. Our seniors are thriving in spite of the many
changes of location, staff, and policies associated with a newly chartered
school.
My goals for the year revolve around
communication, calendar, culture and climate.
We continue to look for improved ways
to maintain communication with our families.
Communication can be difficult with middle and high school students; for
them no news is good news. This website
is regularly updated with announcements and calendar items. A special thanks to Maria Love for assuming
that responsibility.
Our calendar is always a work in
progress. The staff works diligently to be proactive about advance notice for
upcoming events and to tweak the calendar for improved scheduling for
exhibitions, testing, student council activities, and conferences.
Culture and climate are the most
important and can only be accomplished through the efforts of each student,
staff member, and parent associated with the school. Our students are bright, friendly, and
engaging. The staff works hard to
provide a challenging curriculum and yet find some balance for fun activities
as well. The parents are, for the most
part, understanding and appreciative of the efforts put forth to improve our
school. We, in turn, are grateful for
the parents who, as the primary educators of their children, are keenly
interested in the education provided at Ben Holt and assist in a myriad of
roles.
As a team, including students, parents
and staff, I see endless possibilities for reaching our potential at Ben Holt. I invite your thoughts and comments, either
by phone or e-mail toward that end. We
are, after all, Heading Off to Lead Tomorrow!
Gratefully,
Gretchen Salvetti,
Principal
