Based on Newly Released API Scores, Aspire Public Schools Rank #1 among Districts Serving Low-Income Communities

Statement from Aspire CEO James Willcox:

“After careful analysis of API scores recently released, we are pleased to announce that Aspire Public Schools is leading the way across the state in service of some of California’s most underserved communities.  When our schools are analyzed as a whole, our district API score is 816.  We’re also extremely proud that Aspire has no schools in program improvement status under No Child Left Behind."

The success of our students across the state is due directly to the hard work and dedication of our educators and our team, in some of the toughest times public schools have ever faced.  Our consistently high results, while serving some of the most underserved communities across California, are proof that high achievement is possible for every student—and our College for Certain culture is proving that we can change the odds for California’s students.”

Student Academic Achievement

Aspire had another banner year of student achievement growth in 08-09!  All but one of Aspire’s schools open for more than a year increased their APIs by between 16 and 85 points!  On average, Aspire’s schools grew 39 API points, far exceeding the average state growth of 14 points.

Aspire Public Schools is one of the top performing school systems in the state.

*Large school districts defined as having 10+ schools
